What is a Tweet Towel?
Tweet Towel is a tea towel with a personal miniature message embroidered onto it.
Why are you making Tweet Towels?
We are making them to raise money for our digital inclusion projects that aim to get different generations talking more, sharing more and spending more time together. All profits go to the We Are What We Do Charitable Foundation, charity number 1134546.
The idea came from mashing up traditional crafts and digital communication, showing there are loads of things that young people can learn from old people and old people can learn from young people (including cross-stitching and technological-communication-wizardry).
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a website where people write miniature messages saying what they’re thinking or what they’re up to.
What is a Tweet?
A tweet is a 140 character message saying what someone is thinking or doing, or something they want to tell a friend. They are found on the website Twitter.
How do I get one?
On the main Tweet Towel page type your personal message into the box. You’ve only got a maximum of 140 characters so use them wisely. Click “stitch it” and you’ll see a preview of what your Tweet Towel will look like. Once you enter in your payment details your order is placed.
Where does the money go?
All profits go to the We Are What We Do Charitable Foundation (charity number 1134546), funding our digital inclusion projects to get different generations talking more, sharing more and spending more time together.
How come I can only use 140 characters?
Because the idea is based on Twitter, which has a maximum message size of 140 characters. Twitter is a website where people write miniature messages saying what they’re thinking or what they’re up to.
Will my message appear on your feed?
Yes, it will, unless you tell us otherwise by unchecking the ““.
Is it machine washable?
Yes (up to 40 degrees). But best not to tumble dry it.
What is it made of?
Absorbent white woven cotton, embroidered with cotton threads. The pink label is satin taffeta. The gift box and tag are made from 100% recyclable paper and plastic.
How big is it?
42 X 60 cm
Where and how are they made?
The tea towels were created by our suppliers in Turkey (who made sure to probe on their ethical and environmental standards) and then were embroidered in the UK (by an equally reliable source in the east end of London).
Do Tweet Towels come gift wrapped?
Yep. They come in snazzy gift box with a clear panel so you can see your personal message.
Can I recycle the packaging?
Yes, all of it, even the plastic. Please do.
Are they available anywhere else apart from your web shop?
Yes. You can now purchase your Tweet Towel from our retail partner in Sweden, Frank Form. They also stock some of our other products from our stationery and book range. You can also get them from our Not on the High Street shop. We’ve also created some set messages if you’re not sure what to write on your Tweet Towel.
Are you working with Twitter?
We have no connection with Twitter. We love Twitter and all forms of digital communication. We also love tea-towels.
Why isn’t my message appearing on your feed?
Only once your order has been fully processed by Google checkout will it appear on the feed. This may take 15 minutes or so.
Can I place a bulk order?
Tweet Towels are all individually embroidered, but if you want to make a bulk order made up of Tweet Towels with the same message, then we may be able to help you. Get in touch with Ella on [email protected]
